The Peace Center hosted Gandhi for a Celebration Weekend Two-Day Celebration features Private Reception, Benefit Party, and Family Day Event May 13th and 14th. Barbara Simmons, Executive Director of the Peace Center, announced a Gandhi Celebration Weekend to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring message of non-violence through the work of his grandson, Arun Gandhi, and support The Peace Center’s work of promoting acceptance and respect through prevention and intervention programs.

Executive Director, has been with The Peace Center since 1987. She is founder of PeaceTalks radio, a project focused on producing radio documentaries from Europe, Asia, the Middle East as well as the United States and Canada. Ms. Simmons is also an adjunct professor for the International Peace and Conflict Resolution Masters Program at Arcadia University.
Arun Gandhi
is the grandson of the late Mahatma Gandhi. Together with his late wife Sunanda, he founded the M.K. Gandhi Institute of Nonviolence, a non-profit organization devoted to realizing the vision of its historic namesake. The M.K. Gandhi Institute helps individuals and communities develop the inner resources and practical skill needed to achieve a nonviolent, sustainable and just world. Located at the University of Rochester, the M.K. Gandhi Institute collaborates with other nonprofits, academic institutes, students and driven peacemakers in the in the areas of nonviolence education, sustainability and social justice through food, and social justice and nonviolence through restorative justice. For 26 years, the Peace Center has provided hands-on violence prevention and conflict resolution programming to schools and community organizations throughout the Delaware Valley region. The Peace Center is dedicated to furthering peace by deepening understanding and managing conflict in our community, our nation and our world.
